About Us

What We Do

Providing support to Widows, Widowers, and Children. We offer both financial and emotional assistance for those in need while dealing with grief.

Patches of Honor

We recognize that children have a unique exposure to loss and often seek connections with the law enforcement community. The Patches of Honor program sends out care packages to surviving children on a regular basis. The packages contain Law Enforcement Agency patches from all over the world.

Financial Help

After a death, financial fears are often present in many surviving families. Blue Wives Matter hosts fundraising events and provides some financial assistance where needed.

Peer Connections

Having someone who understands is beneficial to surviving family members when a Law Enforcement Officer dies. Blue Wives Matter has a network of over 100 surviving families. Families are matched up by similar cause of death and connected with each other for emotional support.

Supporting surviving spouses and children of fallen officers. It is our mission to honor law enforcement officers who have died, no matter the cause of death, and to support their surviving families.

Blue Wives Matter was founded in 2017 after the untimely death of Fountain Valley California Police Officer Rick Nilos. Officer Rick Nilos dedicated his life to helping others, as a police officer and a US Marine. It was in his death that Blue Wives Matter became inspired to help the families who are left behind. It is our mission to provide the support that families need in their time of loss and grief. We support families no matter the cause of death.
